North Florida PGA Professional Jack Binswanger Elected to PGA of America Board as District 13 Director
Jack Binswanger, PGA owner and operator of Village Green Golf Club in Sarasota, Fla., was elected to the PGA of America Board of Directors today at the 97th PGA Annual Meeting. As District 13 Director, Binswanger will serve a three-year term representing the South Florida, North Florida and Georgia PGA Sections.
The son of a PGA Life Member, Binswanger began his golf career as a caddy and went on to play collegiately at Shippensburg (Pa.) University, lettering all four years. After eight years in the finance and banking industry, he switched gears to pursue a career in the golf industry. Since 1982, he has owned and operated Village Green Golf Club, a par-58 executive course. In 1996, he was elected to PGA membership as part of the first graduating class of the Golf Professional Training Program (GPTP).
As a member of the North Florida PGA, Binswanger has served as both a Chapter and Section officer recently completing his term as Section President. He was the recipient of the Section’s Horton Smith Award in 2010, and was elected to the North Florida PGA Hall of Fame in 2012.
“I know my dad, who passed away in 2006, would be very proud that his son is taking on the responsibility of representing his fellow Professionals in the North Florida, South Florida and Georgia PGA Sections at the national level,” said Binswanger, 61. “I am personally honored and humbled to have been given this opportunity.”
Binswanger and his wife, Mary, are the parents to son, Joe; and a daughter, Becky; as well as grandparents to four.
