Titleist Captures Seven Wins on Seven Tours

As event after event concluded across the seven major worldwide professional tours in action last weekend, the winners’ circle was filled with players trusting Titleist golf balls for their success.

The worldwide sweep featured victories on the PGA, PGA European, Champions, LPGA, Nationwide, Japan and Canadian Tours, advancing Titleist?s 2004 worldwide win count to 98.

PGA TOUR: Vijay Singh became the first player to win four times on the 2004 PGA Tour, by way of a one-stroke victory at the Buick Open. Singh fired a final round 5-under-par 67 to finish at 23-under-par 265 and secure his 19th career PGA Tour title and 41st worldwide win as a professional. He also became just the third player in Buick Open history to win the event twice, having won in it for the first time in 1997. It marks the second consecutive year in which Singh has recorded four PGA Tour titles.

PGA EUROPEAN TOUR: Titleist Pro V1x golf ball and Titleist Titanium 983K driver loyalist Luke Donald fired a pair of 3-under-par 69s on the weekend, earning a five-stroke victory at the Scandinavian Masters. Donald also relied upon a Scotty Cameron by Titleist putter for his success.

CHAMPIONS TOUR: Titleist ambassador Peter Jacobsen captured the U.S. Senior Open for his first career major and Champions Tour title in just his third start. His 12-under-par 272 total was one stroke better than Titleist Pro V1 player Hale Irwin and two strokes clear of fellow Titleist full-line equipment ambassadors and Titleist Pro V1 players Jay Haas and Tom Kite. The first four Champions Tour majors this year have been won by Titleist players. In addition to the Titleist Pro V1x golf ball, Jacobsen relies upon the Titleist Titanium 983K driver, Titleist Forged 704.CB irons, Vokey Design pitching, sand and lob wedges and a Scotty Cameron by Titleist prototype putter.

LPGA TOUR: Titleist Pro V1x player Karen Stupples fired a final round 8-under-par 64 to win the Women’s British Open, her first career major, by five strokes. Stupples’ 19-under-par 269 total at Sunningdale G.C. matched the lowest score in LPGA Tour major championship history.

NATIONWIDE TOUR: Bradley Hughes birdied the first hole of a four-man, all-Titleist golf ball playoff to win the Preferred Health Systems Wichita Open for his first career Nationwide Tour title. Hughes, Hunter Haas (Pro V1) and Scott Harrington (Pro V1x) all fired final round 6-under-par 65s to reach the playoff, while Erik Compton (Pro V1) shot four consecutive rounds in the 60s to complete the final foursome at 14-under-par 270.

JAPAN TOUR: Second-year Japan Tour player Takuya Taniguchi birdied his final two holes to capture the Aiful Cup by two strokes. It marked the first career victory for Taniguchi, who posted a final round 2-under-par 69 to finish at 14-under-par 270. In addition to the Pro V1 golf ball, Taniguchi also relies upon the Titleist Titanium 983K, Titleist Pro Tractory 980F fairway metal, Titleist Forged 670 irons and Vokey Design approach and lob wedges.

CANADIAN TOUR: Stephen Woodard relied upon the Titleist Pro V1x golf ball to capture his second consecutive Canadian Tour title with a three-stroke victory at the Montreal Open. The victory advanced Woodard to the second position on the Order of Merit behind fellow Titleist player and two-time winner Erik Compton.

Buick Open Champion uses Graphite Design Shafts

Graphite Design International (GDI) posted a win at the PGA Tour?s Buick Open (Flint, MI), implementing GDI?s D03 shaft according to Darrell Survey.

Also at the Buick Open, the players who ranked No. 1 in driving accuracy and driving distance used GDI?s D03 shaft.

“It?s a major accomplishment that Graphite Design shafts consistently help the best golfers in the world optimize their performances,? says Akio Karashima, CEO of GDI. ?What?s equally satisfying is that once Tour players?and everyday golfers?switch to Graphite Design shafts, they don?t go back to their previous brand.?

Sonartec ?European Invasion? Continues with Win at Scandinavian Masters

The winner of the Scandinavian Masters carried a Sonartec 3-wood while earning his first European Tour victory this past weekend, according to Sports Marketing Surveys.

The Scandinavian Masters winner was five strokes better than the rest of the field, finishing with a 16-under-par 272 at the Barseback G. & C.C.

The Sonartec “European Invasion” started when the winner of the British Open used a Sonartec Md hybrid Transition Club off the tee and around the greens numerous times in his quest for the Claret Jug. ABC Sports named the Md the “Most Valuable Club” of the event. The following week at the Senior British Open the second-place finisher also used the Md hybrid, the club he told the BBC was the “best club” in his bag.

Sonartec now has three European Tour wins this season and 13 wins around the globe including: One Major Championship, Two additional PGA Tour wins, Three Nationwide Tour wins, Three Japan Golf Tour wins and One Champions Tour victory.
